The NECC is able to provide a number of services for the student and is covered under the cost of the student health fee. There are no additional fees for seeing a dietitian, going to a nutrition seminar, or having your body composition tested.
Individual Nutrition Counseling Sessions
When this appointment is established through the Weigel Health Center, the student will meet with a Registered Dietitian to discuss their nutrition goals. The dietitian will collect a variety of information during the initial assessment to better understand your nutrition needs and help establish an individualized plan of action. We will use evidence-based methods to help you achieve your goals, whether you are an athlete, looking to lose weight, have a nutrition-related medical condition, or want to achieve better health/nutrition in general.
Group Nutrition Seminars
The Registered Dietitian will be able to design a seminar on a nutrition topic of interest to keep the students informed and up-to-date on important nutrition topics. These seminars may take place in student housing, the Student Union, through teaching kitchens, health promotions events, or even in a class that may have an extended interest in the topic of nutrition.
The Registered Dietitian can design a teaching kitchen to meet student learning needs about basic kitchen skills and how to keep cooking healthy.
Fit3D Body Scanner
Have your body composition and wellness evaluated with the Fit3D body scanner. After the scan is completed, we can discuss your results and help you determine how to reach your goals through nutrition.
"Dine with a Dietitian"
Curious about what to eat in the Bengal Kitchen? Believe all of the options have been exhausted? Dine with the Dietitian to catch some of the combinations you might be missing around the dining hall.
Shopping with a dietitian can give you a more in-depth understanding of how to navigate a grocery store and choose healthier, more cost-effective options by looking at the nutrition facts label, ingredients label, and unit cost per item.
